Welcome to the Durham Highway Volunteer Fire Department web site! We are a combination Volunteer/Career organization that provides Fire/First Responder services to the Durham Highway fire district. We are 100% taxpayer supported by the residents of our district.
The district is located in northwestern Wake County NC, between the City of Raleigh, RDU Airport and the Durham County line. The department operates under the direction of it's Board of Directors.
The department is led by a Fire Chief who directs an officer staff of three Assistant Fire Chiefs, two Safety Officers, six Captains and four Lieutenants. The Fire Chief and his officers are responsible for the operation of the department.
