These pictures represent our current fleet of apparatus. Some units carry specialized equipment to support the needs of our district. All engines, purchased since 1992, are equipped with 6" jet dump capabilities, this allows the units to be used in dual role pumper or tanker operations, Wake County now designates these units as Pumpers. A large portion of our response area, our mutual-aid response area, and I-540 is non-hydranted. Therefore all our designated pumpers, and our tanker, each carry a portable 2100 gallon hard frame dump tank. The dump tanks allow us to quickly dump our load of water and then go to a watering refill point for more in an operation called a water shuttle. All our mutual-aid departments have this same capability, which allows for the quick movement of water. At present no other apparatus additions are planned.
