Heavy Snow Causes Vehicle Accident
Wednesday 2/12/14 (A-Shift)
The men of the 16 House were on stand by Wednesday afternoon for the start of the snow storm. 3 crews were on duty staffing the Engine, Rescue, and Brush trucks. After 30 minutes of snow fall, the tones dropped for a motor vehicle accident on Westgate Road. After arriving on scene, the men of Pumper 1 assisted Raleigh Engine 23 with the investigation and clean up. It took Pumper 1 over 30 minutes just to get back to the Leesville Road exit on I-540 due to the backup of traffic. Fortunately, there were no more calls dispatched until the next day.
First Due Fire Alarm
Saturday 2/1/14 (A-Shift)
While Pumper 1 was clearing up from a medical call on the other side of the district, the men from the 16 House were called into service for a fire alarm activation in the Wood Valley neighborhood. Pumpers 1, 3, and 4 responded to the call with a total of 9 men. The crew from the first due engine met the homeowner at the front door and found it to be a false alarm. All units were returned to service and headed back to quarters.
