Gas Leak at Norwood Road Gardens
Friday 1/31/14 (C-Shift)
Pumper 1 was dispatched to the Norwood Road Gardens for a reported gas leak. Upon arrival, Pumper 1 stretched a line to a Bay Leaf pumper and secured a water source. A forklift had sheared a 1 inch underground gas line and was actively leaking. Pumper 1 stayed on scene until the leak was secured, then returned to service.
First Due Fire Alarm
Thursday 1/27/14 (A-Shift)
Units from DHFD were called to the block of Barton Ridge Ct. for a fire alarm activation. Pumpers 1 & 3 and Rescue 5 responded with a total of 8 men. Once on scene, the homeowner was in the driveway saying that it was a false alarm. Info was taken for the report and all units were returned to service.
Outside Fire w/ Bethesda FD (DCo)
Monday 1/27/14 (A-Shift)
Pumper 1 was dispatched mutual aid to Durham County for an outside fire off of Leesville Road. Upon arrival, command (Bethesda 100) requested Pumper 1's manpower at the scene. Pumper 1's men proceeded with rakes and helped out the crews that were extinguishing the fire. Pumper 1 was held for approx. 10 min on scene and was then requested to check out another reported brush fire eastward on Leesville Road. Nothing was found and Pumper 1 was returned to service.
Outside Fire off of Ray Rd.
Monday 1/20/14 (C-Shift)
Pumper 1 and Brush 6 were called to service at Ray Rd. and Macon Rd. Once on scene, a small brush fire was found on the side of the road. The booster line was put into service and extinguished the fire. All units returned to service shortly after.
Vehicle Fire Threatening a Structure
Friday 1/3/13 (B-Shift)
Crews from Durham Hwy & Bay Leaf were toned out for a vehicle fire threatening a structure around 0830 hours this morning. Pumper 1 arrived on scene to find a passenger vehicle with heavy fire involvement. The front bumper line was put into service once again for fire attack. Bay Leaf Pumper 252 assisted Pumper 1's crew with the extinguishment and overhaul of the vehicle.
