PAST APPARATUS

BACK     HOME

This page is a tribute to the past fire apparatus that has served the Durham Highway fire district.   Fire apparatus, like other motorized equipment, becomes outmoded over time.  In our equipment's case, an expanding/changing district, increased call load,  NFPA codes and just plain time were the cause.  Fire apparatus, when purchased new, is typically kept in service for 20 years.  The long service life of fire apparatus is due to the tremendous costs of the equipment.  However, after 20 years of service, maintenance and at times safety, does becomes a factor.  Most of the equipment pictured below was sold to other fire departments in need.  While the equipment may be gone, they are not forgotten.

We are constantly looking for old pictures of our apparatus being used on fire scenes.  If you have any, please contact us.
