Motor Vehicle Accident
Friday 9/27/13 (C-Shift)
Units from DHFD were called into service at the intersection of I-540 EB and Creedmoor Rd for a motor vehicle accident, overturned. While en route, communications advised that the vehicle was believed to be in the woods and possibly on fire. Pumper 1 arrived on location and found that there was no fire and helped to remove the patient. All units returned to service shortly after.
Public Safety Day 2013
Saturday 9/21/13 (A-Shift)
Durham Highway hosted their annual Public Safety Day at Leesville Road High School this past Saturday. Agencies from around Wake County and NC attended to show off their apparatus. Fire Prevention Education

DHFD Volunteers attended a "Back to School Picnic" at Leesville Road Elementary. The vollies had an opportunity to show off Rescue 5 and answer some questions about fire prevention. A crew remained in quarters to staff Pumper 1.
LRHS Home Football Game
Thursday 9/12/13 (A-Shift)
A-Shift members attended a home football game this past Thursday, Sept. 12th. The game was going well for the Pride until a lightning delay was called. After one restart, more lighting was seen and the game was then called.
9/11 Appreciation Breakfast
Tuesday 9/10/13 (A-Shift)
Members from DHFD were invited to Sycamore Creek Elementary for a 9/11 Appreciation Breakfast with several 5th grade classes. DHFD greatly appreciates the support of the surrounding community, especially on days close to the heart of the fire service.
Call for Service: House Fire

Durham Highway was called for a reported house on fire off Big Creek Rd. Upon arrival, found heavy smoke from the C side of the house. The men from Pumper 1 stretched a line to the rear of the house and assessed the situation. A grill was found to be on fire, but was quickly extinguished before it extended into the rest of the house. After some overhaul and checking for extension, units packed up their equipment and returned to service.
